Although John "Juke joint" Logan is not in time a home name, you've plausibly heard his harmonica without knowing it. His harp has appeared on video in the themes of Home Improvement and Roseanne, on the bad concealment with Crossroads and La Bamba, and even in commercials for Jack-in-the-Box and Cherry Coke. Yet below the studio musician lies a composer whose talents have been open by John Mayall, with "Fanning the Flames," and harp player Gary Primach with "The Sound of Money Talkin'" and "Operator."
Among Logan's early breaks were working as a route player with Dobie Gray and a four-year stretch with Leon Russell, including Russell's New Grass Revival. In the late '80s, he worked with ex-Blaster Dave Alvin and his Allnighters Band. Through his association with Ry Cooder on the soundtracks for Streets of Fire and Juncture, Logan affected into the studio world. Around Los Angeles, he shares the airwaves with co-host Ellen Bloom on their weekly receiving set depict, The Friday Night Blues Revue. After long time of studio forge, Logan released The Chill in 1995 and Jook joint Rhythm in 1998, both reflecting his love for the blues. A live album followed in 1999, Live As It Gets.
Young People F---ING
Young People F---ING
Stars: Aaron Abrams, Carly Pope
Director: Martin Gero
*** (out of five)
The first kiss in Young People F---ing, the sex comedy that dares not speak its full name, is tentative and almost chaste.
The smooch is accompanied by mutual insults: Youre an idiot! No, youre an idiot!
Not exactly the nation-shaking boot-knocking you were expecting? You could be forgiven for thinking YPF would literally sizzle out of the projector, given all the heat its title has provoked from clueless politicians and self-righteous moralists.
In truth, Canadian filmmaker Martin Geros very funny and insightful feature debut is far less shocking that its detractors most of whom havent even seen it would have you believe.
Older canoodlers, those of us pointedly excluded by the title (but lets forgive that, shall we?), will recognize YPF as a slightly raunchier version of Love, American Style, a TV series popular in the early 1970s.
It shares the same sketch format of 20-something and 30-something couples working out various love dilemmas.
The only difference here is that one of the couples is a threesome.
The actors are the finest troupe of fresh Canuck faces to appear on film in many a moon, and theyre all totally game.
All of them progress through a six-part sensual adventure, marked by chapters: Prelude, Foreplay, Sex, Interlude, Orgasm, and Afterglow.
Despite the formula format, there are a few surprises to be had, along with a practical demonstration of the best kind of music for f---ing.
If youre looking for porn, youve come to the wrong place.
There are a few bare breasts, a couple bare asses, one naughty strap-on and thats about it.
The nations moral fibre remains intact. If youre looking for a good time and a little wisdom, then come right in.

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane - 5/2/2008
Amber Heard. She's a gorgeous, stunning young actress -- only 22 -- and her career is exploding this year. Landing lead roles in Never Back Down, the upcoming Pineapple Express, and this film, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, she's gone from obscurity to stardom. But her blossoming career merely demonstrates that an actor's success is not really dictated by talent, but by aggressive publicists.
Here, Heard plays the title character, Mandy Lane. She's a junior at a small town Texas high school, and the embodiment of every boy’s fantasy. As the film opens, Mandy and her best friend, Emmet (Michael Welch), go to a party where the school jock, Dylan (Adam Powell), leaps from his roof to impress Mandy, but misses the swimming pool below. The concrete doesn't have much mercy. His untimely death comes into play later in the movie.
Nine months later, Mandy and friends approach the end of another school year. To celebrate, some of her fellow students invite Emmet and her to a weekend of alcohol and debauchery at a desolate ranch home. After some deliberation, they decide to go. At first, they have a good time with the lack of parents and the abundance of booze, sex, and drugs. But then the teenagers start getting brutally murdered by one of their friendly peers…
Back to the peculiar career of Amber Heard. In Never Back Down, Heard delivered an atrocious enough performance to lower the caliber of every scene in which she appeared; when Paris Hilton can deliver her lines with more conviction than you, it's time to find a new acting coach, Amber. The same can be said about her acting in Nick Cassavetes' Alpha Dog.
But oddly, she's quite good in Mandy Lane, which is strange because it was shot before Never Back Down. It's almost as if her talent is degenerating with experience. Here, she's quite the opposite from the earlier film, conveying the perfect blend of innocence, deception, and charm. She's the highlight of the movie. Unfortunately, this time, the movie is so bad, it doesn't matter that she's good.
Director Jonathan Levine (of the upcoming The Wackness) has personality as a filmmaker, but turns Mandy Lane into a vanity project, treating it like an immature high school film lab experiment. He makes it so self-aware that the movie feels like a feature length music video that's too busy admiring itself it the mirror to make any sense.
Oh Mandy, you came and you gave without taking.

American Pie - Scott Apologises To Brother For Sex Talk Slip
Cheeky AMERICAN PIE star SEANN WILLIAM SCOTT turned his brother into a laughing stock on U.S. national TV on Tuesday night (10Jun08) when he recounted his sibling's sexual history during an appearance on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!
The actor told Kimmel he had upset his brother Dave by telling the host he had had "sexual relations" with a porn star called Bridget The Midget on his last appearance on the show.
But he was remorseless as he staged a mocking apology.
Scott smirked, "I just want to say that Dave William Scott, who lives in Ramona, California - my brother - I promised you that I would never talk on national television about the fact that you had sexual relations with that little person porn star, Bridget The Midget.
"I will never talk about it again, Dave William Scott of Ramona, California. Nor will I ever say anything about how I watched you have sex with that girl in fifth grade every day for a year while I was in second grade."
The smiling star ended his `apology' by putting two thumbs up to the camera and saying, "I love you bro."
Scott admits the original prank was a big hit among his family and friends, but his mother was horrified.
He reveals, "She hasn't talked to me since and I actually told her not to watch the show because I said, 'I'm gonna talk about it again.'"
